Praise for Sibel Golden- Seattle Therapist for Women

“As a primary care physician, Dr. Sibel Golden is at the top of my list for patient counseling referrals.  The patients I have sent her way for family or individual counseling have been very pleased with the progress they have made with her guidance.  I particularly think of Sibel when I have a child who may have a challenging time with talk therapy and I believe will respond very well to play or art therapy.  Sibel is kind and warm, yet supportive of getting to the root of the issues with proactive As a primary care physician, Dr. Sibel Golden is at the top of my list for patient counseling referrals.  The patients I have sent her way for family or individual counseling have been very pleased with the progress they have made with her guidance.  I particularly think of Sibel when I have a child who may have a challenging time with talk therapy and I believe will respond very well to play or art therapy.”

“I have referred patients to Sibel Golden since 2006 and have continually been impressed by her ability to get to the heart of the concern.  She does not simply come up with a solution to a presenting problem, but helps her clients understand how to cope with potential events in the future as well.  She assists clients to create a tool chest of functional coping skills they can take out use as they move forward.    Sibel is able to work with her clients and truly explore the meaning of what is going on in their lives and help them create a path to where they would rather be.  Sibel not only works with her clients, but holds a deep respect for where they are in their life.  She acts as both a guide and an interpreter along each client’s journey. Sibel is able to work with individuals and families, adolescents and adults.  Her ability to be fully present and use multiple treatment modalities allows her to individualize her counseling to meet the needs of a wide variety of clients.  I feel confident that clients I send to her will be in good hands.”

Sibel is one of those very rare people, who can grab you simultaneously with her eyes and her heart, and silently reach out to your soul with a smile. Her embrace makes you feel like nothing else matters, safety abounds, and everything is just fine. I found Sibel at a time when my life was rocky, unsure and slightly miserable, yet she helped me to stay afloat while encouraging my success. I’m forever indebted and hope that she can reach everyone who may need her warm and intelligent assistance.

Sibel Golden is my hero. Sibel gently led me to find myself.  I learned to identify things I liked and make choices based on personal preferences.  She helped me learn to voice my desires and thoughts even when others disagreed.  Sibel’s knowledge of women and their tendencies to put others first, helped me see that nurturing others is a wonderful attribute I embody but didn’t apply to myself.  She helped me learn to do that.  After a few months meeting with Sibel I can now identify my desires and am able to take care of my needs which has made me a new person.  I am more open, honest and authentic. Sibel helped me find the real me and build a healthy new life.

Sibel created a safe and comfortable space to talk about a subject that affects me every single day: food, body image, eating. Her support helped motivate me to continue to challenge myself and work on these issues. Sibel is a calming presence – but also instills joy and hope into each session– which is essential when tackling these often difficult and frustrating struggles. Her knowledgeable and intuitive guidance provided me with essential tools — I haven’t stopped thinking about them since our sessions and I’m so grateful because I already feel progress and more compassion toward myself!”

“At last I have been freed from my obsession with food.  Sibel’s patient, personal and positive therapy nurtured and helped grow within me the understanding and capability to make a real life change.  With Sibel I’ve learned:

    • To love and respect my body
    • To listen to my body; to eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full
    • To enjoy food; to eat the best and most satisfying food I can and to savor every meal
    • That every day won’t be perfect and to treat myself with kindness, grace and self acceptance

Working with Sibel I have received the most glorious (and unexpected!) gift imaginable: time. I had not realized the amount out of time and energy I was spending thinking about food, dieting and body image.  Having cleared these thoughts from my life I have what feels like more hours in each day to give to the relationships and activities that truly bring me joy.”

Through my work with Sibel I am developing a new love and respect for my body, health, and emotions. She greets my struggles with consistent, gentle reminders to observe and support myself with compassion. Meeting myself with compassion now takes hold in many, areas of my life. Sibel’s ability to be present with me, through whatever I am experiencing, is a true gift.
Her capacity for listening is so deep and generous. We laugh a lot. Sibel has guided me through profound learning about my relationship to food, body image and an ever-growing understanding of myself. With knowledge, insights and love she encourages me to remain curious. I am so very proud of our work together. It truly touches every aspect of my life.

After 20 years of struggle with multiple eating disorders, I finally mustered up the courage to do something about it. But even after a 30-day inpatient treatment, I knew I needed something more. That something – or someone – came in the form of Dr. Sibel Golden. Sibel met me with authentic compassion, and I immediately felt heard for the first time in my life.

With a creative approach through art, journaling, one-on-one, group therapy, and so much more, Sibel has helped me realize that I am not a problem that needs to be solved. Instead, I have infinite worth, and there is hope and freedom in respecting what my body does for me on a daily basis, recognizing that I can eat (period), and that if I listen, my body has a lot to say. And in those moments of confusion or chaos, greeting myself with grace goes a long way.

Whether body image, making peace with food or boundaries, to name a few, my toolbox is full! Truly, there are no words to express the gratitude I have for the treasures I have learned about myself, for the unexpected laughter, tears and the role Sibel continues to play in my life. I plan to grow old with her!
